Eisa and Einmyria: Daughters of Loki

Published:

Description

The oldest daughters of Loki, and his earliest known lover, Glut, whose name meant 'glow'.

Eisa, whose name means 'fiery embers' is, of course, the one on the left, standing in the background. In the foreground is her sister, Einmyria, whose name means 'suet' or 'ash'. I've always pictured the two as twins, as the concepts of their names are closely related, and, as such, I've rendered them here embracing. Being older beings (as I've always pictured them) I rendered them without clothing, as if they come from a time before such things. Another thought on that is that I've always pictured them more 'one' with their element, and thus rarely taking human, or corporeal, form.

(Interesting artist fact. These two women started out identical renders. The ONLY difference in their body is their lip and eye color. Everything else was LITERALLY copy/pasted into my rendering system and simply positioned differently. It's amazing how a little make up can completely change a model)

This is beautiful-- I'm not very familiar with the story, but this is compelling enough for me to dig in and do a little more research!
